Things to check while viewing a home.
Interior:
- Exterior Doors - for leaks, hinges.
- Screen Doors - Torn or missing screen, bad hinges, chain catch, non working piston.
- Windows - cracks, missing or torn screens, movement.
- Sliding/Patio Doors - movement, missing or torn screen.
- Carpets - worn, not cleanable, needing stretched.
- Hardwood Floors - warped, cracked in need of sanding and finishing.
- Ceiling - cracks, patches, water leaks.
- Lights and Light Fixtures - missing or non functional.
- Ceiling Fans - non functional.
- Stove Top Burners - does each one heat.
- Oven - does it heat, racks available.
- Refrigerator - cooling and quiet operating.
- Freezer - cooling and quiet operating.
- Dishwasher - operational and not moldy.
- Garbage Disposal - operational and no unusual noises.
- Water Heater - age, no leaks, operational.
- Washing Machine - no mold, operational.
- Dryer - operational.
- Heating System - Forced Air: furnace is operational, no unusual noises.
- Electric Baseboard: heating coils are in good shape.
- Hot Water Baseboard: check age of heat pump, tank and coils.
- Evaporative Cooler - no leaks,
Exterior:
- Roof - no visual signs of age, cracked or turned up ends.
- Siding - Pealing paint, cracked or broken vinyl.
- Foundation - cracked or sunken.
- Eaves - pealing paint, cracked boards, warped sofet.
- Septic System - When was it last pumped.
- Driveway - cracks.
- Sidewalks - cracked.
- Garage Door - Opens without binding, opener is operational.
