Living in the desert doesn't mean you have to give up water sports. In fact, there are a variety of water sports and water-related activities available here.  When the summer sun is blazing it's great to know you can head to the rivers and lakes nearby to cool off!

First, you can apply for permits to raft the Ruby-Horsethief section of the Colorado River. You can make this a multi-night trip and enjoy the wildlife and scenic views as you float down the river. This is a great way to cool off in the summer! If you prefer a shorter trip, you can always pick a section and do a day trip through town, from town to Loma, etc.

Next, you can visit one of our state parks. At Highline Lake you can enjoy boating, kayaking, swimming and fishing. There is camping available here as well, so everyone can enjoy a day of fun and then have s'mores by the campfire at night. The various sections of the James M. Robb state park offer (varying depending on location) camping, fishing, and kayaking or paddleboarding.

Don't forget about Imondi Wake Zone! For a fun day of cable wakeboarding or playing in the Aqua Park, there's no better option than this! Located off I-70 between Fruita and Loma, this unique and exhilirating water park is sure to be fun for the whole family!

Finally, if you really need to cool off, head up to the Grand Mesa and fish or kayak in one of the hundreds of lakes and streams available there. You'll find cooler temperatures, wildflowers and wildlife too!

Desert life is filled with so much to do and see, and it doesn't mean a lack of water sports! Ready to start your home search? Call us! (970) 445-1471.
