Fruita Colorado: Plenty of housing and expanded business opportunities

For the last several years, Fruita has been a hot real estate market, and there are no signs of a slowdown. New homes are currently available in several different subdivisions, new homes are under construction in other neighborhoods, and new subdivisions are currently in the planning stages in the quirky little town that wants to continue being a small town, while welcoming new residents and visitors who come to play.

Last summer, visitors found an exciting new place to recreate in Fruita at Imondi Wake Zone, a cable wakeboard park west of town that gives people the chance to wakeboard without a boat. This year, the park is opening for the season on April 12, and is adding new features for wake boarders and a new inflatable aqua park.

"I love seeing the growth with the outdoor recreation industry," said Kodi Imondi, who owns the park with her husband, Victor. Imondi is a Fruita native, and appreciates the opportunity to bring such a unique business to her hometown.

Fruita has been a good home for Munchies, the long-time Fruita restaurant that recently moved from the north side of Interstate 70 to a new, bigger location on the south side of the interstate. The new location gives the restaurant a larger space indoors, as well as a huge parking area and a nice patio area outside. Munchies also obtained a liquor license after the move, so now diners can get a beer or glass of wine with their lunch or dinner.

"Fruita is the ideal place," said Nick Snoke, president of FHE in Fruita, which is getting ready to double its footprint in Fruita when its new, 70,000+ square foot building is complete in a few weeks. FHE manufactures equipment used in the completions process of drilling an oil or gas well. The new building is right next to its existing building on Cipolla Road, and will give the company more capacity for manufacturing, assembly and testing.
