Palisade ColoradoOn the eastern end of Mesa County, Palisade, Colorado is home to lots of orchards and wineries. The area's close proximity to the Colorado River provides it with cold, humid evenings and hot days.  This climate is perfect for growing lots of peaches, apricots, cherries and grapes!

Palisade's success with fruit and wine led to the "Fruit and Wine Byway" which is often biked by tourists and includes lots of stops at local wineries and orchards for tastings.  It's a scenic ride with views of the Bookcliffs, distant mountains, and of course the Colorado River.

Palisade, Colorado has more to love than just wine and fruit.  It's also home to great hiking and biking trails like the Palisade Rim trail. This "double lollipop" loop is a technical trail for bikers but a fun hike for pedestrians. It includes petroglyphs too! Be sure to leave no trace behind as you meander along this trail above the river.

For more recreation opportunities in Palisade, consider the steep hike to the top of Mt. Garfield. The 2-mile 2,000 ft' elevation gain hike is a tough one, but worth the effort! The views from the top are spectacular and along the way you might even see wild horses from the Little Bookcliff herd.

Many of the homes in Palisade are older Victorian-style homes.  You'll find lots of charm here and lots of friendly faces as you meander through downtown.

Sundays in the summer bring the Palisade Farmer's Market, and throughout the summer season there are often festivals in Riverbend Park.  Of course, this year has been a little different and the park has been a quiet place to enjoy frisbee golf, picnics, and time with the family.  In normal years you'll find everything from Bluegrass Festivals to Winefest here!
