Whitewater Colorado

At first glance, Whitewater might seem like a desolate desert area between Grand Junction and Delta, Colorado. However, Whitewater is more than just a strip of houses along Highway 50. It encompasses areas along the Gunnison River, Kannah Creek, and Whitewater creek too.

Whitewater is an unincorporated area south of Grand Junction, just past the Mesa County landfill. Unaweep Canyon, Hwy 141, which leads to Gateway Canyons resort, is also out this way.

Single family residential homes are mostly what you'll find here.  Shopping is easily accessible either in Clifton, via 32 road, or right back up Hwy 50 in Orchard Mesa.

There are many recreational opportunities here, including:

Dominguez Canyon - a great place for hiking along the river and for desert backpacking

Kannah Creek - the Kannah Creek trail leads up to the Grand Mesa and is a great opportunity for backpacking. It is also open to mountain bikers.

Lands End Road - another option for biking or for a fun drive up to the Mesa Top

gunnison bluffs trail

Spanish Trail / Gunnison Bluffs - on the same road as the landfill is the Whitewater trailhead for the Old Spanish Trail. This historic trail was a major trade route from about 1829 - 1843 from New Mexico to California. You can still hike and bike parts of it from Whitewater and you can connect it with the scenic Gunnison Bluffs trail too.

If you're looking for peace and quite, some place to get away from it all, then a move to Whitewater might be for you! If you're intersted in finding a home there, give us a call or start searching here.
